My Priorities
As a school trustee, my focus would be on thoughtful, practical decision-making that supports students, strengthens relationships, and ensures our public education system continues to serve our community well.
Communication & Community Connection
Strong schools are built when people feel heard, informed, and connected.
I believe good communication starts with listening. Students, families, educators, staff, and community members all bring valuable perspectives and experiences to our school system. Creating opportunities for open and respectful dialogue helps build trust and a stronger understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our schools.
As a trustee, I would be approachable, listen carefully, and bring community perspectives to the board table while keeping the needs of students at the heart of decision-making. I believe that working together, communicating openly, and respecting different points of view are essential to building a strong and connected school community.
Relationships with Tla’amin Nation
Strong relationships are built through respect, listening, understanding, and a commitment to working together.
I believe the relationship between qathet School District and Tla’amin Nation is an important one that should continue to be strengthened. Meaningful collaboration means listening to Tla’amin voices, respecting the Nation’s knowledge and perspectives, and supporting opportunities for Indigenous students to feel represented, connected, and successful within our schools.
As a trustee, I would approach this relationship with respect and a willingness to listen and learn. I would support continued collaboration between the school district and Tla’amin Nation and recognize the importance of building relationships based on trust, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to the success and well-being of students.
Student Well-Being & Success
Every student deserves to feel safe, supported, included, and able to succeed at school.
I believe student success goes beyond academics. It also means supporting mental health and well-being, creating a strong sense of belonging, and recognizing that every student comes to school with different strengths, challenges, and needs.
As a trustee, I would listen to students, families, educators, and staff to better understand what is working and where additional support may be needed. I want to help ensure our schools provide environments where students can learn, grow, feel connected, and reach their full potential.
Responsible Stewardship & Accountability
Families and communities deserve thoughtful decisions, transparency, and responsible use of public resources.
School trustees have an important responsibility to consider how decisions affect students today while also thinking about the long-term needs of our schools and community. I believe that means asking questions, carefully considering the information presented, and making decisions based on what will best support students and the school district as a whole.
As a trustee, I would take that responsibility seriously. I would come prepared, ask thoughtful questions, and support open and transparent decision-making. I believe accountability also means being willing to explain decisions, listen to concerns, and ensure that public resources are being used responsibly and with the needs of students at the forefront.
