About

Powell River has been my home for the past 15 years. It’s where I met my husband, built a life, owned local businesses, became involved in our community, and found a place that truly feels like home.

My career has taken me through many different roles, from hospitality and business ownership to property management and my work today with the Tla’amin Nation. The common thread throughout all of it has been people — listening, solving problems, building relationships, and finding practical ways forward.

Community involvement is also important to me. I recently joined the Board of Directors of the Powell River Foodbank, an experience that has given me an even greater appreciation for the people and organizations working every day to support our community.

I believe the experiences I've gained through work, business and community involvement have shaped me into someone who listens carefully, works hard, asks questions and isn't afraid to tackle difficult issues.

Why I am Running

I’m running for qathet School District Trustee because I believe our schools are at the heart of a strong community. What happens in our schools today helps shape the future of our children, our families, and our community as a whole.

I want students to feel supported, safe, and valued at school. I want families to know their voices matter, and I want the people working in our schools to have the support and resources they need to help students succeed.

I also believe our School Board should be connected to the community it serves. That means listening, asking questions, being open to different perspectives, and making thoughtful decisions — even when those decisions aren't easy.

I’m putting my name forward because I care about this community and its future, and I believe I can make a positive contribution to the Board while always keeping students at the centre of the decisions we make.

I will bring a practical, people-focused approach to the role of school trustee, along with years of experience managing people, budgets, operations, and challenging situations.

Throughout my career, I have been responsible for making decisions, solving problems, managing competing priorities, and working with people from many different backgrounds. I understand the importance of accountability, clear communication, responsible use of resources, and following through on commitments.

My experience as a local business owner, property manager, community volunteer, and through my work with the Tla’amin Nation has also given me the opportunity to see our community from many different perspectives.

I won’t come to the Board pretending to have every answer. I will come prepared to do the work — to learn, ask questions, understand the issues, and make thoughtful decisions that put students and the long-term strength of our school district first.
